When my daughter told me she wanted to do a 1940’s vintage themed photoshoot for her 14th birthday, I’m sure you can imagine how excited I was. With all the studies we do on that era, she has become obsessed! And honestly I LOVE it too!
We began the day with hair and makeup with my favorite HMUA Linda Crase. She did a phenomenal job with Gracie’s hair and makeup it felt like we went back in time!
On the day of the shoot, I woke up wishing I knew someone who owned a classic car for our session. On our way home from getting hair and makeup done, we saw a 1940’s Studebaker!!! I followed the gentleman till he stopped (creepy I know) and asked if I could take some photos of Gracie with his car. Needless to say, he was happy to oblige! The car added so much fun to her birthday shoot and I have to say she fell in to character perfectly!
I am literally so obsessed with all of these photos!!! Sign me up for all the vintage photoshoots!
After taking photos with the gorgeous car, we went to Josephine’s Mercantile in downtown Port Orchard to find a vintage suitcase. Lucky for us, we found the perfect one! Of course we couldn’t just get the suitcase –we had to walk up and down every aisle as well! There’s no shortage of treasures in this adorable vintage shop!
While downtown we decided to enjoy a yummy vanilla ice cream cone from Carter & Co.!
After ice cream we took one last drive to Howe Farm for more fun portraits.
If you were to ask Gracie what inspired her to do this 1940’s themed photoshoot, she would tell you how much she loves learning about WWII and the culture during time frame. She is constantly reading books and watching films from this era. Because of this, she had no trouble getting into character to play this role!
Happy birthday Gracie girl! My only girl swimming in a sea of boys! You are loved, you are adored, and you are very well protected!!! Thank you for bringing so much joy to our lives! May your days be filled with all the glory and the wonder of God’s unfailing love and may you feel his presence working in your life all throughout the coming years! We love you!
